Video Games- Advantages And Disadvantages

Todays kids live in an era when everyone has to have the newest rapid fire mods and go to the limit to have their parents buy them a rapid fire chip. Video games have become a way for parents to keep their kids occupied and the modding xbox controller has become the perfect baby-sitter, letting parents get along with their lives knowing their kids are safe at home. Is this tendency without consequences? The following are few of the pros and cons that we should all know:

Advantages

* Social Skills- It has been proven that children who are normally shy have been said to be able to become more sociable after engaging in video games.

* Forget Pain- video games are loved by kids with serious illness or injuries. They help them redirect their minds on the game instead of the pain they’re feeling.

* Creativity Boost- majority of vid games involve a hind of creativity. Its a good way for kids to explore their creative side.

* Improves Cognitive skills- majority of games involve a lot of problem solving and strategy. Children are able to practice their problem solving skills and learn to think fast.

* Hightens Self Confidence- all kids love to boast about their achievements in the latest game they’re playing. They will have higher self confidence in general if they discover they are good at something even if its at video games.

Cons

* Ruins the eyes- hours spent in front of screens are known to destroy ones’ vision. Getting your vision ruined at a young age will affect the childs entire life.

* Waste of Time- many other important tasks such as study and school work will be neglected once kids get hooked on the games. They won’t enjoy a healthy childhood.

* No physical work involved- many kids who are hooked on games end up becoming obese. They will be more prone to teasing at school and probably will have health problems later on.

* Money down the drain- if you think about it, all the games plus electricity used when playing amount to a lot of money. Money that is hard to come up with and could have been used better.

* Violence- the games today aren’t innocent at all! Bloody violence is the main feature. Experts have proven that many hard criminals were exposed to games that portrayed violence as kids.

* It’s wrong- letting video games do the baby-sitting is’t good at all. Families lack communication because of children’s addiction to these games.

Well, those are facts. So before you give in to your kids pleas to buy them the latest video game, think twice. Never should video take the place of good parenting.
