Belly button rings have been on the scene since the early 90s when supermodels began to use them as a must have accessory. Rising shirt lines and falling pants levels have encouraged this trend and really secured it as a part of pop culture.
The original group of young women who started this fashion trend are approaching an age where pregnancy is a real possibility. No longer are they in their teens and twenties, but are now adults. One thing they haven’t outgrown, however, is their sexy belly button rings.

To capitalize on the popular belly button ring, manufacturers have created a “fake belly button ring” that doesn’t require a piercing. They claim to look real, fit comfortably and never fall out. In addition, they have even branched out to include other body jewelry such as fake “gauged” earrings and fake nipple rings.
To wear the fake belly button ring, a user need not have the actual piercing. This concept proves beneficial for those who cannot have an actual piercing dur to dress codes, parental permission, etc.
Fake belly button rings typically have an arm that is attached to a spring and has a flat surface on the end that will press into the skin. One simply opens the clip by pulling back the hinged arm, similar to a clip on earring. Then they will place the bottom or stationary arm inside the navel and press it to the back. After that, all they have to do is close the clip and their faux belly ring should look just like the real deal.

Most importantly, bioplast belly button rings can be cleaned and sterilized very easily. Before inserting any new body jewelry, a piercer will autoclave it. This means that he or she will kill any germs or infections by heating the navel ring or other body jewelry to a very high temperature. Bioplast can be heated to 121 degrees Celsius, or approximately 250 degrees Fahrenheit. These scalding temperatures will easily kill any bacteria and ensure that the belly button rings are clean and safe to wear.
In addition to being so sterile, this material is more flexible than titanium and surgical steel navel rings. This allows for a greater range of movement and will reduce any tearing or stretching in the navel area. Rigid metallic belly rings don’t move around as easily and can potentially cause the fresh piercing to rip. This not only leads to infection, but it can also be very painful.
Because bioplast is a bio-compatible material, it is less likely than metallic belly button rings to be rejected by the body. When the body rejects a new piercing, it will become infected and not heal properly. This new style of belly ring drastically reduces this effect and allows the belly button piercing to heal faster and with less swelling.
Belly button ring wearers are especially grateful for bioplast navel rings because this style of belly rings is available in different colors. Prior to bioplast, the only synthetic material available was PTFE which was not available in color.
Belly button ring retailers are also fond of this style of navel ring because it is “self-threading”.” When the belly ring reaches the consumer, this is typically not an issue but manufacturers certainly appreciate it. A self-threading belly button ring is one that can be cut to any size. The bioplast barbell is cut to the desired length, and the ends are threaded when the ball is screwed on for the first time. This is important because it allows for more flexibility in terms of length and it very valuable when creating pregnancy belly button rings.
Bioplast belly button rings are typically no more expensive than the metallic navel rings of compatible styles.Because they offer so much more for the same price, bioplast is said to be a much better material for belly button rings than metal.
